The protection of the state border is one of the main directions of activities of the National Security Service of RA. Since December 2020, the Border Guard Troops of RA NSS have gradually taken under protection some sections of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border from the units of the MoD of RA. For more efficient organization and implementation of the protection of the newly formed area, with funds allocated by the Government of RA, in a very short period of time, border outposts were built that meet modern requirements.

Director of the National Security Service, Major-General Armen Abazyan visited the N detachment of the Border Guard Troops of the NSS of RA and took part in the opening and commissioning ceremony of 5 new border guard outposts and residential quarters for officers located on the territory of the outposts.

The event was also attended by Deputy Director of the NSS of RA Major General Aram Hakobyan, Deputy Director Major General Samvel Hayrapetyan and other officials.

The solemn ceremony began to the sound of the RA national anthem.

In his welcoming speech, NSS Director Armen Abazyan noted that regional processes show that the length of the state border has actually increased. If we add to this almost the entire range of risks and threats to border security common in the region - from drug trafficking to the transfer of terrorists, from illegal migration to smuggling, then the re-equipment and modernization of the Border Guard Troops is the call of the times.

The border guard outposts "Syunik", "Chakaten", "Yeghvard", "Kakhnut", "David Bek" are fully provided with modern equipment, weapons and other necessary supplies.

The units of the Border Guard Troops are constantly replenished with technical equipment for various purposes, 18 border guard points have been equipped, trenches, firing points and observation posts equipped with gabions have been built.

The head of the N detachment of the Border Guard Troops reported to the Director of the NSS on the current operational situation in the area guarded by the detachment, presented the equipment of the new outposts - modern weapons, technical means of protection and means of communication of the state border and other supplies.

The director of the NSS toured 5 new outposts, got acquainted with the living and service conditions of military personnel, weapons and material and technical means, as well as stressed the importance of observing fire safety rules.

During the visit, Armen Abazyan also got acquainted with the living conditions of the officers in residential premises, which fully comply with modern standards and are equipped with all the necessary property and equipment for the families of officers to live at the outposts.

The director of the NSS also visited one of the border guard points and got acquainted with the conditions and features of the service of the border guards.

At the end of the visit, the Director of the NSS gave relevant instructions to the command of the Border Guard Troops.
