The 82nd meeting of the Council of Border Guard Commanders

The regular 82nd meeting of the CIS Council of Border Guard Commanders took place in Minsk, Belarus. The delegations of border agencies of CIS 9 member states participated in it.

The RA delegation was headed by Commander of Border Guard Troops of the National Security Service, Colonel Vaghinak Sargsyan. Armenian Ambassador to Belarus, RA Permanent and Plenipotentiary Representative to CIS Armen Ghevondyan also participated in the meeting.

During the meeting, members of the Council of Commanders analyzed the situation on the external borders of the CIS member states, emphasized the importance of neutralizing threats to border security and summarized the results of activities.

The heads of border agencies discussed the process of events implementation of cooperation program (2016-2020) on strengthening border security of the external borders of the CIS member states and race along the external borders devoted to the 75th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945).

Commander V. Sargsyan suggested holding a joint exercise involving all CIS member states, which was approved by the participants. As a result of the Council of Border Guard Commanders meeting, 16 decisions were adopted.

Colonel V. Sargsyan has been awarded the Medal for Excellence in the protection of borders of the CIS member states.

According to the decision of the Council of Border Guard Commanders, the next 83rd meeting will be held in the Republic of Armenia in the first semester of 2020.
