On March 28, the regular (81st) session of the Council of Commanders of the Border Guard Troops was held in Tashkent, delegations from 8 border agencies of the CIS member states, as well as the interacting bodies and the international organizations took part in it. Commander of Border Guard Troops of the NSS of the RA, Colonel Vaghinak Sargsyan, Colonel Arthur Nalbandyan and Colonel Eduard Hovhannisyan presented Border Guard Troops of the NSS of the RA at the Council of Commanders of Border Guard Troops․
The agenda contained a number of important issues on which more than 20 decisions were taken by the heads of the border agencies. During the meeting the situation at the external borders of the CIS member states of the Central Asian region and the trends of its development in the near future were analyzed. The projects of the Program of the CIS member states’ cooperation on strengthening border security at external borders for 2021-2025 have been approved. The Council of Commanders reviewed the preparation of joint special border operations on illegal activities across the external borders of the CIS member states. A package of documents was adopted on the planning of the activities of the Council of Commanders and the implementation of joint research projects aimed at improving the forms and methods of protecting the external borders of the member states of the Commonwealth. Cooperation in the humanitarian sphere was approved and special attention was paid to the organization of the relay in 2020, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
On March 25, Commander of Border Guard Troops of the NSS of the RA met Colonel-General Alexander Manilov, Chairman of the Coordination Service of the Council of Commanders of Border Guard Troops in Moscow on the eve of the session. Colonel Eduard Hovhannisyan, representative of Border Guard Troops of the NSS of the RA and Colonel Armen Lalayan, Military Attache of the Armenian Embassy in the Russian Federation also took part in the meeting. Commander of Border Guard Troops of the NSS of the RA was acquainted with the structure of the Coordination Service and the history of its creation. During the meeting the following issues were discussed: interaction with educational institutions where officers and cadets from the Border Guard Troops of the RA study, prospects for international cooperation and a number of other issues.
