Commander of Border Guard Troops of the NSS of the RA has received the Head of the OSCE Border Security and Management Unit
On May 29, colonel Vaghinak Sargsyan, commander of Border Guard Troops of the NSS of the RA received the delegation led by Dennis Cosgrove, Head of Border Security and Management Unit / Transnational Threats Department. Dennis Cosgrove thanked colonel V. Sargsyan for warm welcome and mentioned that he would like to use this meeting as an opportunity to enlarge the cooperation.
The main topic of the agenda was the role of women in the field of border security, particularly their involvement in Border Guard Troops. The OSCE Delegation presented an online training curriculum for these issues.
During the meeting the sides discussed issues related to the training of border guards։ the fight against terrorism, the smuggling of cultural values as well as the prospects of teaching staff at the OSCE Border Management Staff College and further plans for other events. The OSCE representatives expressed their readiness to organize a training of Advance Passenger Information System (APIS). The API system is an effective tool for combating transnational organized crime and tends to increase border and aviation security. Dennis Cosgrove highly appreciated the involvement of border guard troops in the OSCE programs.
Commander of Border Guard Troops of the NSS of the RA, in his turn, expressed readiness to continue the effective cooperation with the OSCE and thanked the head of delegation and the participants for the suggestions and provided opportunities.
After the meeting the guests visited Border Guard Training Center with colonel Vaghinak Sargsyan and got acquainted with the personnel training system and technical means.
