The ceremony of blessing the khachkar of Border Guard Troops

On April 16, in the territory of the Border Guard Troops, a ceremony of blessing of khachkar (cross stone) was held in memory of border guards who died while performing their duties. Leadership and personnel of Border Guard Troops were present at the rite of blessing, spiritual shepherd senior Gegham priest Kesablyan of St. Harutyun church of Parakar community, and the spiritual shepherd Khoren priest Marukian of Holy Martyrs church of Davidashen community conducted the blessing.
Congratulating the gathered servicemen and noting the important role and the meaning of Christianity in the centuries-old history of Armenian people, Father Gegham said։ «Today the blessing is held for Border Guard Troops and for all soldiers defending our borders. Our ancestors had to resist the invaders many times, preserving their national existence, culture and spiritual identity. Khachkar is a symbol of Christianity and has an educational and a military-patriotic spirit».
After the rite of blessing, the commander of the Border Guard Troops of the NSS of the RA, colonel Vaghinak Sargsyan thanked the clergymen for the ceremony.
